All three grew up to be successful actors in Hollywood, but Chris arguably has the most iconic roles. Born on August 11, 1983, in Australia's coastal capital of Melbourne, Chris started his acting career by appearing in several television series.
Early Beginnings
In 2002, Hemsworth starred in two episodes of the children's television series Guinevere Jones as King Arthur at 19 years old. He also made an appearance in the Australian soap opera series Neighbours. The following year, he appeared in an episode of another popular Australian children's show, The Saddle Club. In 2004, Hemsworth auditioned for the role of Robbie Hunter in the Australian soap opera Home and Away. He didn't land the role but was subsequently cast for the part of Kim Hyde. He moved to Sydney to join the cast, appearing in 171 episodes of the series until 2007.
Chris was also a contestant on the fifth season of Dancing with the Stars Australia. After six weeks, Hemsworth was eliminated. In 2009, Hemsworth landed the role of James T. Kirk's father, George Kirk, in the opening scenes of J. J. Abrams' Star Trek. That same year, he starred as Kale Garrity in the thriller A Perfect Getaway. Hemsworth went on to play his first film in the United States, 2010's Ca$h, alongside Sean Bean.
Thor and Beyond
In 2011, Hemsworth landed the biggest role of his career in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thor. He reprised the role as the God of Thunder the following year for the 2012 The Avengers. He would reprise the role for three Thor sequels, as well as appearing in three more Avengers movies. Hemsworth expanded his film range, starring in the horror movie The Cabin in the Woods, the Ghostbusters reboot, and the Extraction film series.
Take a look below at photos of Chris Hemsworth through the years.
2005

At 22 years old and acting on a soap opera series, Hemsworth sure looks the part here with his highlighted messy 'do. He starred as as Kim Hyde in 'Home and Away' for 171 episodes.
2006

With this ragged long hair look, Hemsworth starred on the Australian version of the dance competition, 'Dancing With the Stars.' Though this appearance made him more popular, it almost cost him the role of Thor, as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige worried fans were going to find the footage and eat them alive.
2007

The following year, Chris got a haircut, but we can't say it was necessarily a step up from 2006's hairstyle. This year, the actor left the soap opera and shot the independent film 'Ca$h' with Sean Bean.
2008

New year, same boring haircut. He dated fellow Australian actress Isabel Lucas in 2005 after meeting on the set of 'Home & Away,' but they split up amicably in 2008. They collaborated again on 'Red Dawn' in 2012.
2009

Looking much better with some stubble in 2009, Hemsworth is starting to grow into his adult face. He landed a role in the opening scenes of 2009's 'Star Trek.' Some of his lines from this film were later used in the sequel, 'Star Trek Into Darkness.'
2010

Rocking a more suitable hairstyle, Chris met his girlfriend-turned-wife Elsa Pataky. The couple got engaged and married after less than a year of dating!
2011

In the most important year of his career, Hemsworth was a golden angel at the Golden Globes in 2011. For the role of Thor, Hemsworth said he gained 20 pounds of muscle.
2012

We must say, these long golden locks suit the Aussie very well in 2012. He reprised his role as Thor for 'The Avengers' movie and starred opposite Kristen Stewart in 'Snow White and the Huntsman.'
2013

The shorter brown hair looks just as good on Hemsworth the following year. He starred in two films in 2013: 'Rush' and 'Thor: The Dark World.'
2014

By 2014, Hemsworth welcomed twin sons in March, Sasha and Tristan. He and Pataky welcomed their first-born daughter, India Rose in 2012.
2015

In 2015, Chris and his family moved from Los Angeles to his native Australia. He had four movies out this year: 'Blackhat,' 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' 'Vacation,' and 'In the Heart of the Sea.'
2016

Debuting his full beard, Hemsworth is peak handsome at age 33. He starred in the sequel, 'The Huntsman: Winter's War,' and the 'Ghostbusters' reboot alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.
2017

In 2017, Chris starred in the best 'Thor' movie of all time, 'Ragnarok.' The actor paid tribute to his character's hammer, Mjolnir, which gets destroyed by his sister, Hela.
2018

After two years of full beard, Chris went clean-shaven in 2018 and it is quite the shocking change. He made 'Forbes' World's Highest Paid Actors list for the third time this year (the other two were in 2014 and 2015).
2019

Thankfully, with a beard again, Hemsworth appeared in two movies. The first, 'Avengers: Endgame,' then 'Men in Black: International' with Tessa Thompson.
2022

In 2022, Chris learned on his documentary series 'Limitless' that he has a predisposition to Alzheimer’s. He subsequently announced he would be stepping away from acting to spend more time with his family and reassess his priorities.
2023

Hemsworth reprised his role as commando Tyler Rake in 'Extraction 2.' His rare role as villain Immortan Joe in the 'Mad Max: Fury Road' prequel, 'Furiousa' is in post-production and slated for a 2024 release.
