United Way of the CSRA received a Project DASH Impact Grant from DoorDash. The money will help get food and essential items to people who struggle to find enough to eat. This program brings supplies straight to seniors, people with disabilities, and families who can't get around easily.
"This grant is a game-changer for our mission; it provides the critical infrastructure needed to bridge that gap through home delivery," said Brittany Burnett, President and CEO of United Way of the CSRA, per Augusta CEO. "By bringing food, health supplies, and other vital items directly to those in need, we aren't just delivering goods—we are delivering hope, dignity, and the assurance that no one in the CSRA is forgotten."
The group works with DoorDash, Golden Harvest Food Bank, and partner food pantries scattered across the region. Together, they managed to complete 1,422 home deliveries to vulnerable individuals and families last year.
"We're proud to continue partnering with United Way of the CSRA to serve the people of Augusta," said Daniel Riff, Head of Government and Nonprofit Operations at DoorDash. "Project DASH helps organizations break down barriers to access and serve vulnerable populations in a convenient and dignified way."
DoorDash started Project DASH back in 2018. The program lets social impact groups like food banks and pantries team up with Dashers and tap into DoorDash's technology to get deliveries out to their communities.
Project DASH has powered over eight million deliveries across the U.S. and Canada. That's more than 135 million meals. The local partnership with Project DASH has paid Dashers to make 1,879 deliveries of emergency bags packed with over 14,000 meals to Augusta residents.
