It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Santa coming early! That's right, Santa Claus made an early drop in to Augusta to help families in need. Christmas came early for the boys and girls in Richmond County as Santa Claus arrived early.

This year marked the 7th annual Santa Fly-in event in Augusta, where Santa made a special early appearance. The event was held by the Richmond County Marshal's Office and the Augusta Regional Airport.

WFXG reports that the Santa Fly-in brought lots of holiday cheer to the local kids. Santa arrived and handed out gifts from wish lists, food, and stockings for all of the families in need.

“I was one of these kids. When I grew up, I didn’t have a lot, so when I got this position, I said this is something I want to do, ya know, help give back,” Richmond County Marshal Ramone Lamkin said to WFXG. “So, with community organizers, we came together and founded this to actually give back to the kids. That’s how we’re able to help these kids. I know how it is Christmas, you're looking up under the tree and seeing nothing there. So if I can help one kid not experience that, then that’s what we want to do.”
