AGY will pump $12.1 million into its Aiken County site, creating 80 jobs. This buildout will grow the output of low-dielectric constant and low-dissipation factor glass fibers. The new lines should start running in early 2026.

AGY makes specialty glass fibers that go into products across many sectors. What comes out of this plant supports national defense work and other key uses.

"AGY's decision to expand operations in Aiken County reflects the impressive reputation of South Carolina's workforce and business-friendly environment," said Gov. Henry McMaster, according to WRDW. "We are pleased to see the company reaffirming its commitment to our state and bringing 80 new jobs to the community."

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development gave Aiken County a $200,000 Set-Aside grant to offset building renovation expenses. That money will help pay for the infrastructure work the project requires.

Aiken County Council Chairman Gary Bunker said this growth signals trust in the region. "This expansion is a tremendous win for Aiken County, our industrial workforce and for AGY," said Bunker. "An investment of this scale reflects AGY's confidence in our community and affirms Aiken County's pro-growth, pro-manufacturing policies."

Bunker pointed to what the factory produces and why it matters. "The advanced glass fibers produced here support our economy, strengthen critical industries, and contribute to our national defense," he said.

Anyone hunting for work can check the careers section on AGY's website. Jobs will open up as the bigger operation gets ready to roll out next year.
