The Bulldogs bring in $147 million each year from football, second only to Texas's $183 million. This puts them ahead of big names like Ohio State ($1.90 billion), Notre Dame ($1.85 billion), and Michigan ($1.83 billion).
"We ultimately justified this placement with demographics," said The Athletic's Matt Baker. "Georgia's population has doubled since 1980, and only three states added more residents from 2020-24, according to the U.S. Census. That overall trend, plus the state's explosion into a top-four football talent producer and Georgia unlocking its potential as a perennial national power under Kirby Smart, gave the Bulldogs the edge as a long-term play."
The state's growth tells quite a story. More people keep moving to Georgia, making it one of the top four states for finding football stars. This surge in numbers pushed UGA's value up.
The wins stack up too. Under Kirby Smart, they've grabbed two national crowns in four years, making the team worth even more.
The SEC has six teams worth over a billion: Texas leads at $2.38 billion, then Georgia at $1.92 billion, Alabama at $1.74 billion, Oklahoma hitting $1.49 billion, Tennessee worth $1.37 billion, and LSU at $1.23 billion. These numbers reflect the SEC's dominance in football.
