In early to mid-April, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) will pause road construction-related closures on main routes to Augusta as the Masters Tournament takes over.

I-20 from Covington to Augusta and I-520 will be free of new lane closures. However, some existing closures will remain for safety reasons. Georgia DOT wants travelers to be aware that emergency lane closures could still happen if needed.

State roads in Burke, Emanuel, Jefferson, Jenkins, and McDuffie counties will still have lane closures during this time, so travelers need to remain alert, pay attention to road signs, and use caution near any work zones.

To help traffic move smoothly, HERO and CHAMP teams will watch the roads, handle traffic incidents, and help drivers with car trouble. Travelers can dial 511 if they need assistance from HERO or CHAMP and can receive real-time updates from the website or by dialing 511.
