Chappell Roan Goes Country
Saturday Night Live, best known as ‘SNL’ these days, is celebrating it’s 50th season. That’s an impressive feat for any show. But, for a show that was born in anarchy, it’s almost unbelievable.
SNL 50 Has Delivered
Season 50 has, so far, delivered some pretty great guests, hosts, and moments. It’s also tapped into the current popularity of country music. Episode 1 featured one of country music’s biggest stars, Jelly Roll. Next week will see MGK, whose current single features Jelly Roll.
Last week, November 2nd’s episode, featured one of pop music’s biggest stars, Chappell Roan. Chappell’s first performance was of a song called “Pink Pony Club.” No, it’s not country and, no, it’s not about ponies.
Chappell Roan Gives Country
However, her second performance was a country song called “The Giver.” She and her band appeared in full country attire. The song, in true Chappell fashion, was about how she could treat a woman better than a “country boy” could, saying, during the bridge: “All you country boys saying you know how to treat a woman right, well, only a woman knows how to treat a woman right.”
When it comes to Chappell Roan, you don’t necessarily think country music. But, her fans know that she won’t be defined by expectations and, as it turns out, she can be a pretty great country singer.
New Chappell Roan Music Coming
Roan has been teasing new music for a few weeks. There’s no album release date and no word on if her entire album will be country. “The Giver” isn’t even available on any streaming service. However, she did tease a country theme on her Instagram back in October. Some fans are already calling it her “country era.”
Country Era or not, it’s new music from Chappell Roan and her fans are here for it.
