Chris Brown’s Accuser Speaks Out Ahead Of Documentary

Chris Brown’s domestic violence accuser has spoken out ahead of a new documentary about the controversial singer. Over the weekend, Liziane Gutierrez, who accused Chris Brown of assaulting her in 2016, made her first public statement on Instagram, revealing her participation in the upcoming documentary.

In September, Investigation Discovery (ID) announced the release of a film titled Chris Brown: A History of Violence. The trailer hinted that a new accuser would share their story for the first time, now confirmed to be Gutierrez.

In her Instagram post, written in both Spanish and English, she stated: “Lier [sic], clout chaser, ridiculous are just some of the things I have heard over the years since I decided to tell what happened to me. I’m not sure if I’m psychologically ready to face the consequences of appearing in this documentary, including financial consequences since I signed a non-disclosure agreement.

“But I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to let people know what I went through [sic] and tell my side of the story. Several women agreed to participate and share their stories. We all went through a similar situation.”

She continued “We can’t be against domestic violence and simply ignore some cases or, even worse, blame the victim. This is an investigative documentary in which I provided some evidence from the facts that happened with me back in 2016. I can’t say much now, but please watch it when it airs on October 27th, and then we can talk more about it once it’s released.”

“For now, I’m just going to leave a question for you all: If someone is lying about you, would you pay for their silence?”

In the trailer, released last month, a woman is heard in a voiceover saying, “Chris Brown’s an amazing and talented musician, but let’s call a thing a thing. He’s an abuser of women. Consistently, unapologetically.”

While many are familiar with his 2009 physical assault on Rihanna, as well as other alleged incidents, the documentary will reportedly focus on Gutierrez and her experience.

The singer is the subject of Investigation Discovery’s upcoming documentary Chris Brown: A History of Violence, set to premiere on October 27 as part of the network’s third annual “No Excuse for Abuse” campaign, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As part of the campaign, The View co-host Sunny Hostin will lead a discussion with experts and advocates about intimate partner violence following the film’s premiere.
