Opening A CD Case Isn’t Very Easy For One Generation
Opening a CD case isn’t very easy for one generation. Young kids that are in school right now are “Generation Alpha” and they were brought into this world at a time when just about everything can be done on a phone. That obviously includes listening to music which can be done with a quick Apple Music or Amazing Music search. Their favorite artist or song can be cued up in seconds. They’re riding in cars where there shouldn’t be a loose CD sliding around under a seat or in a glove compartment. With the exception of my Dave Matthews Band CDs that are stored away, I don’t have a single CD in my house or in my car. In fact, my wife and I have vinyls now because they’ve made a comeback and I don’t see CDs coming back as something the younger generation has to have.
The Excitement Of CD Shopping Is Gone
As we get closer to the holiday season, I’m reminded of how fun it was to go shopping for CDs. They were always a fun item to put on a Christmas list and you could even sample the CD right there in the store with headphones that were provided! Today, that just sounds gross.
A Scratched CD Was The Worst
If one of your CDs became scratched that was the worst thing ever. For me, it always seemed to happen on my favorite albums and it would always skip during my favorite songs. There were times when I’d listen to music outside on my stereo and somehow going from CD case to CD player was sometimes a very delicate situation. I’d drop a CD on the play side outside in my driveway and it would immediately scratch. They made scratch repair kits but those never really worked for me.
The Lyrics Inside The Case
The first thing I ever did when I bought a new CD was open the case and look through the cover for the lyrics. This was before lyrics were posted online. Opening a CD case isn’t very easy for one generation as one Mother proves in the hilarious video below.
