Augusta’s First Mobile Laundry Facility Will Service The Community Soon
Compass for Hope will create Augusta’s first mobile laundry facility to provide for those who are homeless. The mobile facility is currently under production, but not for long.
Via Facebook, the organization stated that the mobile laundry facility was coming along nicely and should be in service within a few weeks.
Compass for Hope is a nonprofit organization that serves the homeless community of Augusta. The director of Compass For Hope is Mike Garrison., Each Sunday they serve the downtown area by giving away toiletry’s, and clothing.
They currently have mobile shower units, so they even allow for those who need it a chance to take a shower. As of this October, they have been able to service over 500 showers to the community.
Now they will soon be offering the opportunity to wash and dry clothing. The model facility will contain 2 washers and 3 dryers.
They are currently still looking for a presenting sponsor for the laundry facility.
This organization also allows for volunteers to come help out every week. Specific responsibilities include greeting guests, possible parking lot clean up, unpacking the toiletry items to be given away, setting up the line with the day’s bounty to give, and handing out clothes. Serving and clean-up time is 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.
