I’m Going To Be Reminiscing On Night One Of Travis Scott’s Utopia Tour For A While
I’m going to be reminiscing on night one of Travis Scott’s ‘Utopia’ tour for a while. I felt the same way when he last toured 5 years ago after his Atlanta show at State Farm Arena. He’s a high-energy performer and when it comes to stage design has one of the most creative minds in the industry.
A First For Me
I’ve been to a lot of shows but I’ve never been to the first night of a tour. Travis opened up his Utopia Tour in Charlotte on October 11th at The Spectrum Center. He set the bar with his Astro World with production that included a roller coaster that selected fans would ride during one or two songs. With no social media to go off of, what was he about to surprise us all with?
The Stage
The stage was most of the length of the arena floor and fans who bought floor seats were almost able to circle completely around the stage. The set-up of the stage looked like something out of Jurassic Park or The Legends of The Hidden Temple Nickelodeon game show from the 90s. It was able to elevate in different areas either with a lift or a ladder and he used every square inch of throughout the show.
Fan Interaction
I mentioned earlier that he would select fans out of his Astro World tour crowds to safely ride a very slow and safely controlled roller coaster while he performed. At this recent show, two fans climbed up a ladder and onto a detachable part of the stage that was lifted. Those fans were strapped safely to a harness as it rose and they were able to rap with Travis on stage.
The Overall Show
This was an awesome show with tons of energy. I’m going to be reminiscing on night one of Travis Scott’s ‘Utopia’ tour for a while. There were lasers, pyro, and sick beats which are all of the ingredients that make up a Travis Scott show. I’ll be following social media to see what he tweaks or adds to his tour for the next couple of months.
