Georgia Beaches: This is the Best Beach in the State

Going to the beach is a prime summertime activity in Georgia. So, when it comes to Georgia beaches, which is the No. 1 is the state? Of course, it’s all subjective, but a new study names one Georgia beach at the top of the list.

The new study comes from U.S. News and World Report, which has an extensive travel section. “With 110 miles of coastline and 15 barrier islands, the Peach State is a beachgoer’s paradise,” they state in the article. “Unwind at an award-winning resort, or go off the grid at one of Georgia’s remote shorelines. Whichever kind of vacation you choose, you’ll instantly feel at ease thanks to surroundings filled with beautiful live oak trees and unique wildlife.” They add that to come up with this list, U.S. News looked at various factors, such as “accessibility, one-of-a-kind attractions and photo-worthy landscapes” to find the best beaches in Georgia.

Before we get to the No. 1 beach in Georgia, let’s look at No. 5, since it’s a bit closer to Augusta. No. 5 on the list is Lake Lanier. Of that spot, the article states, “For the ultimate beach day, head to Lake Lanier. This 1,200-acre resort destination boasts nearly 700 miles of shoreline and endless recreational opportunities, all along the striking backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains.”

So, what’s the No. 1 best beach in Georgia? It’s Sea Island.   • Hanging Lake, Colorado
