Ft. Gordon Soldier Asks For Help Locating Her Emotional Support Dog
In a recent news story from WJBF, a Fort Gordon soldier is asking for the public’s help with her lost dog. Staff Sergeant Sarah Jersey is a soldier who has been stationed at Fort Gordon. Back in December, her German Shepherd, Wiski, went missing. Wiski is Jersey’s emotional support animal.
Jersey first met Wiski when the pup was just 6 weeks old. And when they brought her home, she became a very important part of the Jersey family. Jersey said both Wiski and her sister, Zelda, help keep her grounded and help with anxiety, depression, and nightmares.
In December, Jersey left the two dogs at her home on Fort Gordon with a friend, while she traveled to Illinois where her husband was stationed. Even though she received some photos of Wiski while she was gone, Jersey could tell something wasn’t quite right.
Jersey was receiving pictures and videos up until Christmas Day, and then stopped. Christmas night, Jersey found out Wiski had escaped her backyard.
Immediately, Jersey posted on social media, posted flyers, and reached out to pet recovery volunteers. She even offered a reward. But her efforts have been futile.
Now she’s reaching out to the public and the media to help. The area of focus is around Deans Bridge Road, between Barton Chapel Road and Tobacco Road, and by Gate 5.
