Justin Bieber attends the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 03, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nine months after Justin Bieber shared the effects of his Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis, the singer updated fans on his facial mobility yesterday (March 15). In a brief video posted Instagram Stories, Justin, 29, shared a clip of himself scanning the room with his eyes and raising his eyebrows. While the rest of his face stays still, he zooms in until he flashes a full grin, writing alongside his clip, “Wait for it…”

Last June, the “Peaches” singer revealed he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears. And with the singer, the right side of his face was unable to blink his right eye, flare his nostril or smile fully. In a video posted to social media at the time, Justin shared the impact the diagnosis had on him physically.

Bieber apologized to fans for taking a break from touring as he said it’s “pretty serious” and that he’ll need to work on facial exercises to get back to normal. “I wish this wasn’t the case but obviously my body is telling me I gotta slow down,” he said. “I hope you guys understand, and I’m using this time to just rest and relax and get back to 100% so I can do what I was born to do. But in the meantime, this ain’t it.”

While addressing his fans, Justin noted that he would overcome his diagnosis in due time. “I’m going to get better,” Justin shared. “I’m doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal and it will go back to normal. It’s just time. We don’t know how much time it will be but it’s going to be okay. I have hope and I trust God. I trust that this is all for a reason and I’m not sure what that is right now, but in the meantime, I’m going to rest.”

After attempting to go back on tour, Justin ultimately canceled again, since performing left him feeling exhausted mentally and physically.
