Ed Sheeran Trades His Guitar For Chris Hemsworth’s Hammer From ‘Thor’
Chris Hemsworth and Ed Sheeran are trading their prized “trade tools.” The singer-songwriter joined the Thor: Love and Thunder star on Instagram Sunday (February 19), gifting him a guitar in exchange for Thor’s mighty hammer: “Mjølnir.”
“Just an instrumental trade-off between two blokes,” Hemsworth, 39, captioned playful video footage of the exchange. “Ed Sheeran I’ll make this guitar sing like no other and you swing that hammer with all your soul. Love you brother!” In the video, Sheeran, 32, presents Hemsworth with one of his acoustic guitars. “One of my stage guitars,” he says, taking it out of the case.

“Wow,” Hemsworth says as he takes the guitar, then presents Sheeran with the hammer. “This is my own weapon of choice,” the Marvel actor jokes. After they both sign each other’s “instruments,” the “Shape of You” singer poses with the hammer behind text written by Hemsworth over the clip that says “WORTHY!” Sheeran even jokes that the two should trade professions after the trade-off, to which Hemsworth says, “You hold that better than me!”
If only Sheeran knew where the actor kept Mjølnir, he might not have been as excited to trade. In an interview with Extra last year, Hemsworth revealed where he stores the hammer. “It kind of varies in its location from the toy box to the mantlepiece,” he joked. “It quickly gets taken off there and ends up in the bathroom.”
Sheeran posted the exchange on his Instagram page as well, with the caption: “Swapsies. I think I got the better end of the deal tbh.” The singer, who celebrated his birthday on Friday, performed in Australia over the weekend after five years from being in the country. “3 shows to 180,000 people in Brisbane for my birthday, great way to turn 32 ! Love being back in Australia x,” he captioned the clip on Instagram. After the concert, Sheeran’s team sang the smiling singer “Happy Birthday” to him.
