North Augusta Standoff Ends with Murder Suspect Behind Bars
Burke County authorities who were trying to serve an arrest warrant in North Augusta to a man who was wanted for murder there wound up in a six hours-long standoff last night.
Twenty-year-old Jordan James Perkins was one of two men wanted for a deadly shooting at an unlicensed bar in Girard in Burke County in July. One person was killed and four others were injured.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office announced a $10,000 reward earlier this month for information leading to the arrests of Perkins and 22-year-old Jawuandre Kelly in connection with the shooting.
A tip led authorities to the 100 block of Mill Stone Lane in North Augusta Wednesday afternoon, where they were attempting to serve Perkins with a warrant for his arrest when the standoff began.
Hours later, Perkins was taken into custody and charged with Murder and four counts of Aggravated Assault. The search for Kelly continues.
