I love a great joke, don’t get me wrong… but this Amy Schumer joke? NOT FUNNY.

I was scrolling on Twitter, and just happened to land on a tweet that I find really disturbing.

It’s from Amy Schumer, and it reveals a joke she wasn’t allowed to use during the Oscars.

This is the “joke.”

Am I the only one that’s disturbed by that?!

According to the Variety article, Schumer was performing stand up comedy in Las Vegas on April 2nd.  She continued discussing the “slap heard around the world” between Will Smith and Chris Rock.

Schumer was one of the co-hosts for the 94th Academy Awards where the incident occurred.  She shared on social media after the show that she was “still triggered and traumatized” by Smith’s actions. Schumer also made comments about toxic masculinity.

So to “comfort ourselves,” Schumer decided to share some jokes she wasn’t allowed to say on TV.  The joke were pretty controversial, including things about Joe Rogan and James Franco.  But the “joke” addressing the fatal shooting on the set of “Rust,” in my opinion, was just completely heartless.

Schumer does say it was her lawyer that told her not to say the jokes. Adding, “Don’t tell anybody and don’t get mad at me.”

Her “Don’t Look Up” joke somewhat made it into her monologue.

Schumer’s comments on the slap incident about being “still triggered and traumatized” included her feelings toward Chris Rock as well.  She said she loves her “friend” and believes “he handled it like a pro.” She added remarks about “So much pain in @willsmith” and how she was shocked, stunned and sad.  But also adds she’s proud of herself and her co-hosts (Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall).  She finished the statement with, “Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed.”

My Thoughts

Finally, I just have to say, I’m mind blown.  How are her “jokes” okay? Joking about a death! But one man slapping another is… triggering and traumatizing?

Is it just me? Maybe I was raised differently.  But sometimes the mindset of Hollywood scares me for the future.
