This is the type of thing Lady Whistledown would die to get the insider knowledge on!  There’s a Bridgerton spin-off coming!

Yesterday (March 30), E! News reported that Netflix and Shondaland announced the cast for an upcoming spin-off of the hit show. Currently, this new series does not have a title, but we do know it is somewhat of a prequel to the current show.  It will focus on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte.

Of course, this means we’ll also get to learn some additional backstory on other Bridgerton favorites.  As you know, Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury have long history in the Ton.  The best part? The women who play these roles in Bridgerton, will also be in this new series!

There will of course be some new faces in the cast, to include younger versions of the Queen, Lady Danbury, and King George.

According to the show’s description, it will tell “the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”

It will be a limited series. According to an article on Essence, it will have eight episodes.  The show is written and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, and Tom Verica (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away With Murder) will be directing and serving as executive producer with Rhimes and Shondaland’s Betsy Beers.

Do you know how old your favorite Bridgerton actors are in real life?
