CSRA News: Masters Champion Phil Mickelson Won’t Play This Year
For the first time in 28 years, three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson will not play in the tournament here next month.
Mickelson made comments last month in support of a proposed new Saudi Arabia-backed golf league while criticizing the PGA tour. His comments drew backlash from fellow PGA players and cost him several sponsorships.
Mickelson has apologized for his remarks, but said he was taking time away from golf to “prioritize the ones he loves most and to work on being the man he wants to be.”
