National Pack Your Lunch Day
I love to look at the “National Day Calendar” everyday! It’s amazing to see what people have come up with for things to celebrate. One thing on the calendar for today is: National Pack Your Lunch Day!
Honestly, this is almost every day for me- for a few reasons!
Packing Lunch to Save Money!
I like to save money. Dining out (even grabbing fast food) can get crazy expensive. I’ve always been pretty money conscious, and thinking of spending close to $50 on lunches out each week really adds up! My grocery bill is usually around double that ($100, although sometimes more) and can provide me and my fiancé with breakfast, lunch and dinner all week! Plus, driving to get lunch every day uses gas, and we all know gas prices are up!
Packing Lunch to Make Healthier Choices!
I try to make healthy choices. I’m a SUPER picky eater, and don’t eat a lot of veggies. I don’t do salads either. So going out for lunch for me would wind up being something way more unhealthy than something I prepare at home. My fiancé and I pretty much always bake or grill our meat- and now I use the air fryer here and there too. This makes our meals a little healthier than greasy fast food. I have a LONG way to go when it comes to making super healthy choices, but I figure at least when I prepare my meals, I know what goes in them!
Packing Lunch because I’m Picky!
Because I’m pretty picky and been made fun of for it throughout my life- I have food anxiety. This is apparently a real thing, and I’ll have to elaborate on that more at another time.
All that to say– yes, I brought my lunch today! I made a knock-off Chick-Fil-a chicken sandwich (not the healthiest of options– but I did air fry it!). I’ll probably share a few of my random recipes along the way… including this one!
The hardest part for me is finding things that re-heat well, and having some variety so you don’t eat the same things week-to-week. I know it doesn’t help that I’m picky… but still!
So, do you take your lunch to work? What are your favorite things to take?
