After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey aired, social media was packed with people discussing the explosive reveals.

Serena Williams also went to social media to talk about the interview and support her friend, via a note on Instagram.

In it, she said, “Meghan Markle, my selfless friend, lives her life — and leads by example —with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every day what it means to be truly noble. Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she’s experienced.”

Serena then spoke about issues she’s had with racism and the media. The mental health consequences of systemic oppression and victimization are devastating, isolating and all too often lethal.”

Serena later talked about her hope for her daughter and Meghan’s in the future.
