The official trailer for an upcoming four-part documentary series explores Demi Lovato’s story of addiction was released today. Her nearly fatal overdose in 2018 and the trauma she faced in the aftermath are among the topics that Lovato discusses in the series.
In the trailer, Lovato is on stage wiping tears saying, “Mental health is something we all need to talk about.” Her rise to stardom and her battles with sobriety and mental health are covered in the upcoming series. She reveals she had three strokes and a heart attack, with doctors believing she only had 5-10 minutes to live at the time of her overdose.
The gossip website TMZ “broke” the news story in 2018, incorrectly reporting the singer suffered from a heroin overdose, which was later to be found false (and which they corrected).
The highly anticipated YouTube series premiers March 23.
