Blind Dad-To-Be Receives An Embroidered Gift of a Lifetime!
After losing his vision 7 years ago, Nathan Edge was able to see an ultrasound of his baby thanks to an amazing gesture!
It’s so easy in the abled world to take small things for granted, even our ability to see. For 26 year-old Nathan Edge, who lost his vision completely about 7 years ago, he often doesn’t get too down about his reality of being blind. However, after his partner revealed she was pregnant with their first child, he couldn’t help but be saddened that he couldn’t share in the joys of the ultrasound.
Nathan’s Girlfriend, Emma, has been with him throughout his journey and wanted him to be able to see his baby for the first time. She collaborated with a close friend to give him the gift of a lifetime. Emma had the ultrasound embroidered for Nathan so that he could feel the photo for himself, and gain a visual of his unborn child!
How incredible is this 😍

Received this amazing surprise today... it’s an embroided tactile version of our 12 week baby scan, so for the first time as a blind dad to be, I’m able to build a picture of our baby scan through touch ❤️
Can’t describe how amazing this is 😍 pic.twitter.com/3Qm01MlzhS
You can see from this tweet how excited Nathan was about this amazing gesture and gift! He said, “I tried to imagine what he looked like using other people’s descriptions… but now I’m able to build a proper picture of my baby. It’s just amazing. I could have gone my whole life never knowing what that scan looked like.”
The woman behind this heart-felt creation is Deb Fisher, whom the couple met several years ago when Nathan was speaking at his first-ever event where Deb was a volunteer guide dog walker.
It’s stories like these that really put things into perspective for abled folks, and warm the hearts of everyone alike. Below is a picture of the proud parents-to-be! Click here for more on this touching story!
