A look at a few fun facts and some over-the-top pumpkin products in celebration of National Pumpkin Day!
It seems there is no bigger seasonal flavor phenomenon than “pumpkin spice.” Some companies have axed the seasonal thing and made the flavor option available year round, while other companies just keep raising the pumpkin bar with some of these products…
-
Pumpkin Spice Twinkies
-
Pumpkin Pie Spice Pringles
-
Pumpkin Spice Dog Shampoo
-
Pumpkin Spice Beard Oil
-
Pumpkin Spice Hummus
I can honestly say I wouldn’t try a single one of those products (LOL)!
Did you know:
- Pumpkin carving originated from an Irish tradition where turnips and potatoes were carved to ward off evil spirits
- Pumpkins are 90% water
- Illinois is the top state in the U.S for pumpkin production
- Pumpkins are one of the best-known sources of beta-carotene (an antioxidant converted to vitamin A in the body), loaded with fiber, potassium, and vitamin C
- Starbucks almost named their famous Pumpkin Spice Latte the “Fall Harvest Latte” but they felt the name didn’t tell people what it tasted like
