Flying during the pandemic has gotten even more sobering as airlines are now banning alcohol to preventing the spread of the virus.

On to the Delta airlines website, they announced that they would not have alcohol service for domestic flights. They write, “We’re paring down to essential onboard food and beverage options in an effort to reduce physical touch points between customers and employees. As always, you are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages on board to enjoy during flight.”

Meanwhile, American Airlines has made a similar statement regarding liquor on their flights. They say, “We’re limiting food and drink service in the Main Cabin based on flight length and destination. You’re welcome to bring snacks and soft drinks on board to enjoy during your flight.”

According to CNN, other airlines limiting beverage service include American Airlines, Easyjet, KLM Delta Air Lines, and Asia’s Virgin Australia. They add, “Many airlines are limiting drink options to water only. As face masks must be kept on other than when passengers are eating and drinking, it’s a way of ensuring passengers are lingering over their refreshments for no longer than necessary.”
