This Dog’s Mood Is All Of Us…
Quarantine and social distancing are affecting everyone… even our furry friends!
Big Poppa the bulldog rose to fame on Twitter earlier this week after his mom posted this photo of him:
Aside from the hilarious nature of this good boy, it’s no surprise that social distancing measures are taking their toll. Some animals are experiencing the effects it is having on their social interaction with others (i.e Big Poppa), while others may be getting a little too accustomed to 24/7 life with their human.
Experts say dogs will undoubtedly experience separation anxiety when their owners start to resume a regular at-the-office work life again. Some things you can do to help ease them back into normal life and lessen their anxiety are:
- Keep them on a schedule. Dogs do best when in a routine, so try to keep them as regulated as possible.
- Take small amounts of alone time during the day, as difficult as it may be.
- Start implementing separation now. Be sure to leave the house (for a walk, drive, outdoor activity, etc) so that your fur-baby can get used to you leaving again.
- Use activities or calming tools to help them along.
- Be patient and don’t be afraid to seek guidance if your dog is struggling with the changes.
So while we all may feel like Big Poppa right now, dogs may have an even harder time later on. Get more info and tips from experts here!
