A Bar In Tybee Beach Is Paying Employees With Collected Money Stapled To Walls!
What was once a fun bar novelty, quickly became a big act of kindness!
Bar owner Jennifer Knox of ‘The Sand Bar’ in Tybee Beach, GA has been collecting stories, memories, and bills offered by her patrons for over 15 years, but like many other bars and restaurants, the doors are currently closed. As she sat in her now empty bar that she runs with her mother, she looked around and saw a perfect opportunity staring right back at her.
Local bars often adopt the trend of collecting bills from patrons and hanging them up around their establishment, but we’ve never seen them come down for this reason! Knox, who worked as a bartender for seven years before owning it, said “I can’t just sit here and do nothing… I have to do what I can for my people.”
Three days, five people, and a whopping $3,714 dollars later… the walls were cleared with a new heartfelt purpose in mind. Jennifer was able to provide four bartenders and two musicians extra funds during this trying time. Her act of kindness touched people around her so much that past patrons and fellow bartenders also started donating to the cause.
It’s moments like these, and acts such as this, that truly bring us together, even if we are apart. Jennifer is hopeful that ‘The Sand Bar’ will open its doors to their customers-turned-family once this is all over, and is planning on coming up with a new way for patrons to leave their mark. You may notice newly painted walls the next time you step foot inside, but the care and compassion from this owner… well that all remains the same!
