Justin Sullivan / StaffSure, social distancing may be challenging... but it doesn't have to be boring!
As we all try and navigate this new normal for the time being, there are still plenty of things we can do to keep ourselves entertained and engaged:
- Virtual Happy Hour with friends- People all over the world are hanging out with friends, family, and coworkers... just virtually! It's still a great way to catch up and feel close to those you care about.
- Start learning a new language- It's always a good time to expand culturally! Sites like Duolingo have resources available to you to help pass the time while learning something new!
- At home workouts- The gym can be a little intimidating, especially if you don't typically spend a lot of time there. Little at home workouts can come in handy during this time to help keep you active and get you more prepared for the gym once you can go back.
- Start mastering that hobby you've been putting off- Whether it's that keyboard that's been collecting dust, or the book of Sudoku being used as a coaster... now is the perfect time to shake the rust off whatever little hobby you once had aspirations of mastering!
- Read- Books and literature were all people had as entertainment once upon a time. Surely during times like these a nice escape into an alternate reality or even a flashback to the past through the power of reading sounds great!
- Virtual museum tours- Google Arts & Culture are offering virtual museum tours where you can get an at home look at amazing art work, historical figures and events, and more!
- Try a new recipe- Some of us say we would cook more if we just had the time... well now we have a ton of time to try our hand at a new recipe. The plus side, there's not much pressure or time constraint to redo it even if you do screw up!
- Get artsy- Whether it's a puzzle, a coloring book, or even experimenting with make-up, keeping yourself focused on an intricate task can not only pass the time, but also help make you feel accomplished!
There are tons more ways to adapt to this new form of entertaining ourselves, so why not try something new or revisit and dust off something old! Stay safe and take care of your mental health!
