Pose’s Billy Porter has been confirmed as the actor who will portray the Fairy Godmother in the new forthcoming live-action remake of Cinderella.

The Emmy-winning actor confirmed on Saturday (Oct. 12), that he will play the role in the Sony film, during a panel at the 20th New Yorker festival, as People reports.

Camila Cabello is slated to portray the princess in the re-imagining of Cinderella, a cult classic. Broadway veteran Idina Menzel who was the voice of Frozen‘s Queen Elsa is deliberating playing Evelyn, the evil stepmother.

The plot details for the remake of Cinderella have yet to be released. However, the story is reportedly a modern-day version of the fairytale where an orphaned girl becomes a princess.

Porter, 50, the originator of the role of Lola in Kinky Boots on Broadway (which he won a Tony for)  recently made history by becoming the first openly-gay black man to be nominated for and win best actor in a drama at the 2019 Emmy Awards.

He won the Emmy for his portrayal of Pray Tell in Pose, which airs on FX. Porter also has a lot more in store.

“I have a movie with Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne and Salma Hayek, Like a Boss,” he revealed during the panel on Saturday, when he shared his Cinderella news. “I have a new album coming out next year. I am directing an episode of Pose.”

“There’s a play that I directed that just debuted in Boston that’s coming to New York,” Porter continued. “I’m a gypsy — the only thing I know how to do is work. I’m ready. I’m ready for all of it.”
