Christian Whitaker, winner of our first ‘Breast Summer Ever’ contest, put her nerves aside on surgery day to talk a little bit about her journey…
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Christian’s story, lets recap:
She’s a 24 year old college student who started her weight-loss journey at 304 lbs. Through diet, exercise, and sheer determination, she has managed to lose around 145 lbs in just about a year! When I asked what drove her to this newfound path of wellness, her answer was simple: Family. “I want to be healthy so that I can be around for my family for a long time,” she told me, with her sister sitting closely next to her. Christian opened up to me about some of the insecurities that can come as a result of weight-loss (such as looser skin and smaller breasts.) As a young woman who has worked so hard to adopt a lifestyle of health and wellness, she felt this augmentation would help complete her transformation.
Realizing finances were a pressing issue and feeling like winning our contest was a long-shot, Christian planned on postponing any sort of augmentation by several years. (Luckily us here at HD983 and Savannah River Plastic Surgery had other plans!) She bravely shared her story, and ended up receiving HALF of the total votes! During our time together, we talked about her support system at home, the gym she belongs, and what it meant to her to have the backing of so many strangers during the voting process.
Christian radiates beauty inside and out, regardless of size. Proving to everyone that it’s never too late to make a change, and to never give up on yourself. She chose a new path, she chose her health, and therefore, the audience chose HER. Christian’s kind-nature and sweet spirit make it all the more rewarding that she was the winner of our ‘Breast Summer Ever’ contest.
