Cardi B’s request to trademark “okurrr” was reportedly denied by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
According to The Blast, the request was denied because the catchphrase is categorized as a “widely-used commonplace expression.”
The publication reported that the USPTO determined that “okurrr” “does not function as a trademark or service mark to indicate the source of applicant’s goods and/or services.”
As an example of the catchphrase being a common expression, USPTO officials supposedly cited the Kardashians use of the catchphrase.
According to Vibe, the “Money” rapper said previously that she began using “okurrr” after hearing Khloe Kardashian use it on TV.
Although Cardi didn’t create the phrase, she surely made it more popular. She even used it several times in her popular Pepsi commercial.
Also on Sunday, a fan tweeted to Cardi B that her mom wants her to explain it to her. Check out the tweet below.
