Taylor Swift’s return to the Billboard Music Awards stage Wednesday was an explosion of happiness as the singer performed her new single, “Me,” with Panic! at the Disco’s Brandon Urie.
Surrounded by a marching band playing pink drums and dancers in a rainbow hue of pastel suits, Swift held nothing back, flying around on stage as acrobats holding umbrellas accompanied her. If that sounds like a lot to follow, allow Billboard host Kelly Clarkson to simplify it all for you: As she noted about Swift: “She was flyin!”
The song’s decidedly happy vibe seems to follow a new era for Swift, who seems to be in a much brighter place for this album than her previous record, Reputation. Even her fashion choices have been more upbeat, featuring pastels and ladylike ruffles.
