A former Bad Girls Club star has been sentenced to a year in prison for going on a $20K shopping spree on the dime of a man who fatally overdosed on a “prostitution date” with her.
Shannade Clermont, 25, who appeared on the Oxygen reality show with her twin sister Shannon, pleaded guilty to wire fraud for stealing the man’s banking information from the victim after spending time with him at his New York City apartment in January of 2017.
According to the New York Post, the man died on the night in question “after ingesting cocaine mixed with fentanyl.” Authorities found drug paraphernalia at the scene and a broken condom in his bed.
Clermont did not call 911 for the victim during the crisis nor did she tell anyone at his apartment building. Instead, she left the scene and used his card to pay her rent and make lavish purchases like airplane tickets and designer handbags and shoes.
Both sisters appeared in court Thursday, dressed identical and with platinum blonde hair, the Post reports.
A lawyer for Clermont argued that she did not know the man was in distress. She gave a statement in court Thursday and said words could not express the “sorrow” she had in her heart.
But the judge did not buy her apology and said instead that she was “acting as a prostitute” and showed no remorse by using his card.
She is scheduled to turn herself in on June 4.
