Britney Spears has reportedly checked into a mental health facility, as she is distraught over her father’s recent health issues.
According to TMZ, the singer checked into the facility last week and will spend about a month in treatment.
Spears alluded to seeking treatment Wednesday with an Instagram post about taking “me time.”
“Fall in love with taking care of yourself. Mind, body, spirit,” the post read. She captioned it: “We all need to take time for a little “me time.” :)”
Spears’ father has been battling a life-threatening colon rupture since last year. As her conservator, he has been one of Spears’ main sources of support, helping her get her life and career back on track after a very public breakdown in 2007.
“Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her,” a source told People Magazine. “He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well. They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her — she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.”
Spears announced earlier this year that she would be taking a hiatus from her planned Las Vegas revival to be with her family.
