At least four suspects are on the run after a police officer was shot and killed in Georgia earlier today.
According to WSBTV, the Gwinnett County officer was responding to a suspicious vehicle parked near a middle school in Snellville this afternoon.
As Antwan Toney approached the vehicle, he was shot through the window by one of the suspects.
Police returned fire, though it is not clear if they struck any of the suspects.
As the suspects fled the scene, another officer nearby rushed Officer Toney to the hospital.
Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Officer Toney was with the Gwinnett County Police Department for nearly three years before his tragic death.
Dozens of officers and SWAT members were called into the area to help locate the suspects.
The suspected vehicle crashed a short time after the shooting. It is believed they fled on foot.
Police are also searching vehicles passing through the area. At this time, the suspects remain at large.
