The soldier, identified as 19-year-old Jeremy J. Wells, joined the army last year.
He was listed as a aircraft electrician with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.
According to WSBTV, at the time the incident occurred, Wells was participating in weapons training.
Somehow, he was wounded in the process. It is not clear at this time exactly what happened.
Wells was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries.
The Army is investigating the incident to determine what happened.
