Two Journalists from Greenville, South Carolina, died while covering subtropical storm Alberto on Monday.

According to People Magazine, the deceased journalists have been identified as Mike McCormick and Aaron Smeltzer.

Both were employed by WYFF News 4.

The men were covering storm conditions on Highway 176 yesterday afternoon when a tree uprooted and fell on their vehicle.

Just minutes before the incident, the journalists had interviewed first responders in the area for their segment.

The Fire Chief recalled they each told the other to stay safe, then fifteen minutes later, the same fire crew responded to the accident.

Sadly, both journalists were pronounced dead at the scene.

A tweet posted from the WYFF Twitter account expressed sadness over the loss of McCormick and Smeltzer.
