Uber is looking to get into the aviation industry.

According to CBS News, Uber is partnering with NASA and the US Army to launch the world’s first flying taxi system.

“We want to create the network around those vehicles so that regular people can take these taxis in the air for longer distances when they want to avoid traffic at affordable prices,” said Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

This is farther along than you think too.

Expectations are to start launching test flights come 2020 and apparently, Los Angeles and Dallas are the first cities that will feature Uber Air.

Uber has since released concept images of what the vehicles and hubs could look like.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t know if I’m ready for an air taxi service, but it’s definitely intriguing if they can get the tech right!
