We Now Know Why Monica's Apartment Was Purple On 'Friends'

Fans of the hit sitcom 'Friends' may have wondered why Monica's apartment was purple, and lucky for you, we now know the reason behind the decision.

Elle is reporting that the lead set designer for the show made the bold choice to go purple, a move he said was not well-received at first.

The purple theme quickly became part of the show's identity, and people continued to watch the show because it was unique.

Now you know ...

Designing the Apartment in 'Friends'

There's no apartment in New York City more famous than Monica's impossible rent-controlled, two-bedroom West Village digs. That's all thanks to John Shaffner, the man responsible for creating the set of "Friends."
