‘Clerks’ director and star Kevin Smith has made some significant diet changes after his massive heart attack, and somehow potatoes are centrally involved in this new meal plan.On his podcast ‘Hollywood Babble-On,’ Smith shared that he’s been following a diet from Penn Jillette‘s book called ‘Presto!: How I Made Over 100 Pounds Disappear.’ Yes, that’s Penn from Penn & Teller.

In this diet, the book states that you eat potatoes for 2 weeks, and then incorporate salads and veggies – while skipping on fruit and nuts for over 3 months. He also noted that with the urgent call for him to lose 50 lbs from his doctor, he has also removed animal related products from his diet.

Quoted by E! he said, “My kid is thrilled because she’s a vegan, ‘She’s like, ‘Welcome home brother.” He notes that he didn’t choose that for any personal philosophy, but it’s more of a necessity standpoint.

For those who know of Kevin Smith and his looks throughout the years, it’s hard to deny that Silent Bob is looking pretty thin. If there is ever a ‘Clerks 3’ or some ‘Jay and Silent Bob’ cameo, he will probably have to write in his healthy lifestyle, along with being off the “Jamaican Lambs Wool” as Jay says in ‘Clerks 2.’
