Frozen Fruits And Veggies May Be Healthier Than Fresh Produce
A new study disproves the common belief that fresh fruit and vegetables are better for you than frozen produce.
The study was published in the Journal of Food Composition and Analysis, the authors measured the nutritional content of three types of produce: fresh, frozen, and “fresh-stored.” According to Business Insider, the study found “frozen fruits and vegetables are, in many cases, more nutritious because fresh produce loses vitamins when left sitting in the fridge, even after just a few days.” Fresh produce typically contains the highest amounts of nutrients right when it is picked but quickly decreases nutrients right after. Frozen produce is normally picked and then frozen, preserving its nutrients longer. To get the most nutrients out of your produce I would recommend eating it as soon as you buy it otherwise give frozen fruits and veggies a try.
